Depression is of two types; chronic and acute. However, there are other types too but chronic depression refers to as suffering from depression for quite a longer duration. However, short term depression (maybe termed as ‘event’ based depression) may not require any specific treatment and they get solved easily once those events are over or become old. For instance, depression due to losing a contract may come for some days or months but can be overcome once you get other contract.
Chronic depression is a result of series of unwanted episodes or events that have gone all wrong and undesired. Or, in other case, chronic depression may be the result of a big blow (such as death of beloved person or a financial loss leaving you on the road etc). In such chronic depression case, the individual has to be tackled carefully.
